This was not planned, and it happened fast.

A vacation in the Canadian Rockies in 2007 turned into full-blown emigration from Europe to Calgary, the sunniest city in the country and just an hour away from the Rocky Mountains, as a middle-aged solo female.

Here in Alberta, I discovered a new life of hiking, summer, winter and backcountry camping, canoeing, kayaking, downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, skating, horse-riding, mushing, attending rodeos and powwows and generally discovering the area, its attractions and communities.

There has been lots of learning along the way and I am still learning. My goal is to share my experiences with newcomers, visitors and long-term residents who wish to expand their experience of Alberta in particular, and of its surroundings occasionally, while protecting this beautiful area.
